  • 4 cups sliced potatoes (about 4 medium potatoes)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • fresh herbs for seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat and add chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, and any additional herbs desired.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the cream of mushroom soup. Repeat layers.
  5. Top with shredded cheese and cover with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for about 45 minutes. Remove foil during the last 10 minutes to brown the cheese before serving.
