Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 10 large cabbage leaves (Napa works well)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Boil a large pot of water and blanch the cabbage leaves for about 2 minutes until soft. Remove and let cool.
  3. In a skillet, sauté the diced onion until translucent; add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  5. Take one softened cabbage leaf and place a generous scoop of filling at its base; roll tightly while tucking in the sides. Repeat until all filling is used.
  6. Place the rolls seam-side down in the baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over them, cover with foil, and bake for about 45 minutes or until cooked through.
