  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup Italian sausage (spicy or mild, cooked and crumbled)
  • 2 cups butternut squash (peeled and cubed)
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese (torn into pieces)
  • 4 fresh sage leaves (chopped finely)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven.
  2. Toss the butternut squash cubes with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet and roast for about 20 minutes until tender.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned. Set aside.
  4. Roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface.
  5. Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the dough. Layer with roasted squash, cooked sausage, mozzarella pieces, and chopped sage.
