  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 15 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. 3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until well blended.
  4. 4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer three lasagna noodles over the sauce followed by half of the meat mixture, half of the ricotta mixture, and sprinkle with one-third of mozzarella cheese.
  5. 5. Repeat layering: add more marinara sauce, another three noodles, remaining meat mixture, ricotta mix, and one-third of mozzarella cheese. Top with final noodles covered in marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella.
  6. 6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. 7. Let it sit for 10 minutes before slicing to serve.
