- 15 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- 3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until well blended.
- 4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer three lasagna noodles over the sauce followed by half of the meat mixture, half of the ricotta mixture, and sprinkle with one-third of mozzarella cheese.
- 5. Repeat layering: add more marinara sauce, another three noodles, remaining meat mixture, ricotta mix, and one-third of mozzarella cheese. Top with final noodles covered in marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella.
- 6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- 7. Let it sit for 10 minutes before slicing to serve.
