  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds (toasted)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream the softened butter until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Gradually alternate adding dry ingredients with milk until smooth.
  2. Grease a round cake pan and pour in the batter. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. For the topping, heat honey and sliced almonds in a saucepan over low heat for about five minutes.
  4. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form; add powdered sugar if desired.
  5. Slice the cooled cake horizontally into two layers. Spread whipped cream on one layer, place the second layer on top, then pour warm honey-almond mixture evenly over it.
  6. Allow flavors to meld before slicing and serve at room temperature or chilled.
