Description

Pillowy soft cinnamon rolls stuffed with caramelized Granny Smith apples and topped with a spicy, aromatic ginger-cardamom caramel glaze.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup warm milk (110F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, finely diced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 tsp fresh grated ginger
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Proof yeast in warm milk and sugar until foamy.
  2. Mix in melted butter, egg, and flour; knead until smooth.
  3. Let dough rise in a warm spot until doubled in size.
  4. Sauté diced apples with butter and cinnamon until tender.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread apple filling and cinnamon sugar.
  6. Roll into a log, slice into 12 rounds, and place in greased pan.
  7. Let rolls rise for 30 minutes, then bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Mix butter, cream, ginger, and cardamom; drizzle over hot rolls.
