Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup softened butter (divided)
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix active sourdough starter with warm milk. Gradually stir in flour, granulated sugar, eggs, and 1/4 cup softened butter until a rough dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let rise for about 2 hours or until doubled in size.
- While dough rises, mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle (1/2 inch thick).
- Spread remaining softened butter over the dough and sprinkle it with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Roll tightly to form a log.
- Slice log into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another hour until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before icing or serving warm.
