Ingredients

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Heat water and sugar in a saucepan until dissolved.
- Remove from heat and steep basil leaves for 10 minutes.
- Strain out the basil leaves using a fine sieve.
- Cool the syrup to room temperature.
- Whisk in lemon juice and lemon zest.
- Freeze the mixture, stirring every 45 minutes for 4 hours.
